Anyone involved in booking corporate entertainment will usually have little margin for error. Obvious reason being that you must impress clients and look efficient, confident and effective. However it is not as easy as one may think.
For instance you may book a comedian who is absolutely brilliant and receives a standing ovation. However this may turn out to be a total disaster if he or she just happens to pick on the wife or colleague of one of your best customers and they do not see the funny side after being made a laughing stock in front of friends and important business associates.
Make sure that someone really does their homework first and you know exactly what you are letting yourself in for. Adult material for want of a stronger term should only be used if you are absolutely sure that no one will be offended and guests fully understand the nature of the show they are attending.
Even if your best customers think the entertainment is great but one person does not and causes a disturbance which could easily ruin the night. This may well have adverse financial implications which will defeat the whole object. Imagine shelling out a lot of money promoting a corporate entertainment event and inviting all the right people only to find that afterwards you and your company are viewed in a worse light than before you spent a tidy sum. Not to mention all the hours of hard work you will have put in hoping to make the event successful.
A quality professional entertainer will do his homework and research on the clientele he will be performing to in the audience. Unfortunately there are still some real idiots (who claim to be professionals) out there who don't care who they offend. A smart corporate entertainment organiser will make it very clear to the entertainment the do's and don'ts.
There may well be some people in the audience who are up for some fun and games and even hanky panky. In fact their participation in the entertainment could make the night fantastic. However just like corporate business the trick is to know who if any the right people are.
Golden rule - book the right entertainment and make it abundantly clear about the do's and don'ts.
